Reproduction

REPRODUCTION POLICY

Archives and Special Collections will consider requests by separate application for the reproduction of limited amounts of material when such duplication can be made without injury to the material and when United States Copyright Law allows. Archives & Special Collections reserves the right to refuse to reproduce materials in its collections if materials might be damaged by the reproduction process or if reproduction has been restricted by donor agreement.

Reproductions are made available for research, teaching and private study and may not be further copied or made available to another researcher without prior permission. Permission to publish or otherwise use reproductions for a commercial purpose must be obtained in writing from the University of Connecticut and the copyright holder.

Reproductions are made available for one-time use. Each researcher must assume full responsibility for any legal questions that may arise as a result of use of reproductions.

PERMISSION TO PUBLISH

Permission to examine materials is not an authorization to publish from them. Permission to publish or otherwise use reproductions for a commercial purpose must be obtained in writing from Archives & Special Collections. An application for permission to publish should identify the items to be published.

Researchers who plan eventual publication of their work should inquire about possible copyright restrictions. In the case where the University of Connecticut is not the owner of copyright or literary rights, permission to publish must also be obtained from the owner(s) of the copyright.

Each researcher must assume full responsibility for any legal questions that may arise as a result of their use of materials. Exclusive rights to examine or publish materials will not be granted.

Patrons using material in a published work are requested to credit Archives & Special Collections at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center, University of Connecticut Libraries. A free copy of publications is to be presented to Archives & Special Collections as soon as the work is completed.
