BiographySteven Kellogg was born 26 October 1941 in Norwalk, CT, the son of Robert E. and Hilma Marie (Johnson) Kellogg. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design (B.F.A., 1963) and did graduate study at American University. An author and illustrator of children's books and artist, Kellogg has also been an Instructor in etching at American University (1966) and taught printmaking and painting. His paintings and etchings have been exhibited many times. Kellogg's awards include: Matilda Who Told Lies and Was Burned to Death. "One of ten best picture-books" citation, New York Times (1970) and ABC Award, Brooklyn Museum (1970) Can I Keep Him?
