Hartford Electric Light Company

The Hartford Electric Light Company was established in 1882 to run boilers for the arc lights of the streets of Hartford. By 1884, when they provided incandescent lighting they were able to install lighting in businesses and residences around the city. The company built generating stations along the Farmington River at Tariffville and the Connecticut River at Dutch Point and South Meadows in Hartford.
